Stayed in one of their family pods for a couple of days.
The last time I was at this site was about 1985 - It is safe to say it was almost unrecognisable!
Pod was great. Very clean, excellent heater with a view over lake Derwentwater (when it wasn't raining). There was no noise other than the birds and of course the odd bit of RAF.
Toilet blocks were the star. The best of any campsite I have ever been to by a long way. Yes you have to keep pushing the button in the shower but so what :-) Okay its a communal facility, not en-suite but the quality and cleanliness put a lot of expensive hotels to shame!
The site has a shop on site - It has a coffee machine! You can get pretty much anything to get you by there including booze.
The site is family run and everyone I had cause to interact with was pleasant without being in your face.
The site is about 2 miles from the centre of Keswick so no biggy. It was a tough climb after a meal and beer though. There is a footpath down the side of the site to Spring Lane. I think it took me about 30 minutes to get to the Dog and Gun but if you make a circuit of it going via the stone circle it was around an hour - still do-able for an evening stroll.
The site has wifi but there is a phone mast about 300m away. Although this detracted from the view I got an excellent 4G signal and had no issues running Netflix, Now TV and Plex
For me - Maybe not as convenient as camping and caravan Keswick but street ahead in just about every other way.
