I would like to take a moment to share my experience with this Sahara Dodge dealership and their service department. About 3 years ago we purchased a Dodge Durango from them. As a part of sale they installed a tow package and electronic brake controller. This took them several days despite the fact we were told 1 day. No big deal. After taking the car home we notice there was squeak coming from under dashboard in general area where brake controller was installed. We returned with car to have them fix. They acknowledged squeak and claimed to have fixed. Once again I brought the car home after them having car for several days. Sill squeaked. We tried once more and gave up. Fast forward till today. Brought car in for recall and asked them to check history and please fix squeak. They acknowledged squeak and history of problem and cause. Again 1 day quoted process turned into 4 days. Did they fix it? No they did however tell me that for $1200.00 they could. After griping to manager I was told there was very high staff turnover in staff and they are not responsible for previous work. Then they proceeded to use a tactic that I have come to realize they employ. Knowing that our complaint was valid the manager said can you give us one more day to troubleshoot . This grows into days and days and like most people I eventually need my car. So through using attrition they effectively circumvent their responsibility.
I might also add that manager suggested that I complain directly to Chrysler to see if they would pay for repair and he would back me up. I replied why I would complain to Chrysler when I bought the car squeak free. Only after this service department was paid to install something did it squeak. Unwilling to participate in his attempt to redirect blame he responded with Can you give us one more day?
As a dealership I would say they are average and what you would typically expect. The service department however is hands down the worst experience I have ever had with any auto service in the 46 years of my life. If anyone from Dodge is reading this you must know that we drive this car every day. Every day we are subjected to a squeak that faithfully reminds us of the poor choice we made in choosing this dealership and quite honestly poisons the possibility of buying a Dodge in the future.
