Multiple portions reviewed - I have always received excellent treatment at the ER for either me or my children. Had to visit recently for one of my children and received very quick, caring, concerned care from triage to the nurses to the PAs who took care of us.

I also see my regular physician (PCP) via their network at the South Toledo Internal Medicine clinic on Glenwood. They've recently moved into a new building, which I don't like. In my view it is too similar to a hospital setting. When I visit my doctor, I like it to be in a more intimate environment and not a hospital setting which makes me think of catching the flu and other stuff that people all around me may have. Also don't like all the shuffling.

I like my regular doctor and the PAs I have seen however at the clinic.

Would give UTMC 5 stars except they have a low level of customer service in my view from the support staff. All medical professionals I've encountered are very good. However, the staff/front office of nearly every specialty/group, along with registration desk/checkin/check out personnel, almost all of them are rather rude and need some training in customer service or to be fired. They are very unprofessional and talk too much to each other and gossip and sound like they have attitude problems, which is the reason behind the lack of a star. Not all of them are this way, but literally it seems 9 out of 10 of them are. When you call they are rude and act like they don't want to talk to you and want you to hurry up and get off the phone. They rarely even say their name when they answer the phone, which is phone customer service etiquette 101. I know it is hard to hire a good quality employee at lower level/lower paid positions, but UTMC is a state employer and IMO they need to ensure they have a higher quality staff or get rid of those that aren't. Review made after just calling the South Toledo Internist group to ask that a refill be sent for my fast action asthma inhaler. I asked if it could be sent to the pharmacy prior to noon. The representative just basically said it wouldn't since my doctor was not in this morning and won't be in until the afternoon. I told the lady that I often see a PA on staff there as well and to ask the PA to send it in. This is an asthma inhaler and I was having trouble breathing. Showed an extreme lack of care and lack of professionalism. She finally just came back and said "it will be sent" and didn't say if it would be in the morning or not. If I were her boss I'd probably discipline her. Going to also send a recommendation for customer service training to UTMC executives/management as I know people in that level at UTMC. Reps never know who they are speaking with and it would behoove them to treat all public with respect and professionalism and care, since they work for a healthcare facility and people's health and lives are at stake at times with every phone call.
