Hannah Payette Peterson Review of Iguana Studios, New York

I never leave bad reviews but my experience here was so bad that I had to. My boyfriend and I went here for new years eve and it was a huge rip off to the point of being a scam. The tickets cost $35 each plus a >$6 fee just to enter (purchased in advance). The coat check was $6 per each item, and they counted each item separately (coat, hat, sweater, small bag, umbrella, change of shoes etc) and they didn't allow you to put anything in your coat sleeves or hang coats together and forced you to check every single item on you. Considering many couples on a rainy new years in NYC walk around with coats, hats, scarves, purses, umbrellas etc this can easily result in a $40+ cost just at coat check. The menu prices were extremely inflated for NYE, with the by far cheapest item on the snack menu (a few corn chips in artificial cheese sauce) costing $14. A small single order of guacamole cost $18. Even worse, there was no seating unless you purchased a ridiculously expensive bottle, so we were forced to eat our extremely overpriced and unimpressive corn chips standing up, and the lack of seating resulted in discomfort and sore feet after a while. The music was not great and it was far too loud for any conversation, and the dancing was not good. Other patrons were sloppily drunk as early as 10 pm and would bump into us as we danced, and there were multiple drinks spilled on the dance floor and broken glass. The overall attitude of everyone working there was simply to rob you of as much money as possible rather than actually ensuring you enjoyed yourself after spending astronomical amounts of money (there was even an employee in the bathroom asking for tips for handing you a paper towel!). As soon as we arrived we couldn't wait to leave. I regret ever coming to this place and will never return, and I strongly advise against anyone going.
