In 2012 I ordered triple laminated sash windows for my bay. They came with a special type of wood which lasts longer. Little did I know they would be tested to the ultimate. In December 2019 a car crashed into the bay. I was sleeping less than a metre away. The impact was so destructive that the next door railings were flattened, the cherry tree in front of my flat was uprooted, my railings were flattened, and the pillars and stairs belonging to three houses were destroyed. The car stopped with its rear end on my front window sill, finally brought to a halt by the windows. The impact knocked my radiator off the wall and a chest of drawers in front of it crashed to the floor. The windows held! The glass held! All were in their frames, one was twisted, but all were intact. The glass shattered but didn't break, otherwise I would have been hit at speed by flying glass. The side panels are still there and seemingly untouched.
This company has been extremely cooperative and will advise on replacements. This is what I call excellent work from beginning to end. I am so grateful to the Sash Window Workshop for literally saving my life.
