Highmark BCBS has been professional for many years...

Highmark BCBS has been professional for many years and done a quality job keeping me in the loop about health issues and coverage. They are my prefered health insurance company. I am writing here about one specific experience that I found to be troubling:

The ACA mandates that health insurance companies give a customer rebate when they have not spent 80% or more of their profits for the year. This past year Highmark BCBS did not reach 80% and sent out rebates to their customers. Even though every bill from them, every explanation of benefits, and every health reminder has easily made it to my mailbox. The rebate check, which I did not know was coming, was sent to my old address. An address I have not had or used for EIGHT YEARS. Luckily, the current resident tracked me down.

The check was printed on flimsy paper, in black and white ink...which made it feel a little bit like a scam or junk mail. I called the company to make sure it was a real check and they verified that it was.

Anyhow, this is a long story...but I just wanted to let any readers out their know to please call Highmark and see if you have a rebate check for last year waiting for you that "somehow" was sent to the wrong address or looked like junk mail.
