They sent me a letter about a debt I owe saying that their client is excepting settlements of 60% of the owed balance. It also said that if I can t settle it in one payment I could contact the office to work out a reasonable payment plan. That they are willing to work with me to resolve this matter. When I called them first off the balance they said I owed on the phone was almost $1000 more than what was stated in the letter. The woman on the phone gave some lame answer about only being allowed to send a letter with the principal amount on it. Yea okay I really believe that one. Second she said I m only allowed to do a payment plan for the full amount not the 60%. Either their client is accepting a 60% settlement or not. I m sure they just want to get this matter closed and not drag it on without getting any money. It sounds more like Relin,Goldstein & Crane are making that rule themselves just to make more money for themselves in the long run. I don t believe that is the clients rule. Especially since they didn t even attempt to hear what payment plan I had in mind. If the 60% settlement amount the client is good with getting back is $3000 and I would do a payment of $1500 this month and the other $1500 the following month I guarantee their client would have no problem with that. Again this debt collector is making that rule themselves that a payment plan is only for the full amount. Relin, Goldstein & Crane are using these debts of people that don t make a lot of money and can t afford to pay a lump sum to scam them so they can squeeze every cent out of the people. They re not truly willing to work with the individuals they re collecting the debt from. RG&C have only their own interests at heart and not their clients and have no interest in helping the individuals they re collecting from clear their debt and have the matter resolved. I will be calling the company I owe the money to and hopefully I can work out a payment plan with them. Even if it s for the full amount I d rather go through who I actually owe the money to and not the scam artists at Relin, Goldstein & Crane.
