Review of Microtel

I get that they're currently remodeling but damn. The carpet in the hallway had a bit of a smell to it and there were mattresses leaned up against the wall that didn't move for at least 2 days. Our very small room was nice and clean (BUG FREE...trust me I checked thoroughly) with nice white linens and modern bed skirts but a few things were off. There was a hole in the headboard between the two beds where you'd normally expect a lamp but there was none. There was a mini-fridge but no microwave so the whole "kitchen in all rooms" amenity wasn't exactly accurate. The WiFi was spotty and the cable crapped out on the second night of my stay and didn't come back on. Our bathroom mirror had great big cracks across the bottom and some writing in sharpie on the top. The biggest downer was that the prices that show on the google listing ($55) are for rooms with only one bed so I paid more than I was expecting for a room with 2 beds but by that time I was tired of looking in the area and just gave in. Plus, the lady that checked me in didn't point out the total price plus tax before I signed everything then didn't give me a receipt so right before I checked out I saw two charges from Microtel on my bank statement and when I asked they had no explanation for why but they added up to the correct amount so I let it go. Overall, this place wasn't good for much more than a clean place to sleep.
