The Career Planning & Resource Center @ UWM is an incredible resource. I HIGHLY recommend that you make use of this resource while in college. It s a great place to start building a network.

Many people confuse their university career offices as places where advisors sit and tell you what to do with your life, but that s not what they are for!

All of the counselors in the office are experienced at ADVISING and ASSISTING you with your career needs and interests. They provide excellent guidance. It definitely helps that they are nice and patient too. Rome wasn t built in a day, so make time to put in the work and visit regularly (it s career/college maintenance).

Throughout my years at UWM, counselors were able to help me choose/change majors, build networking skills and connect me to their networks of employers, find jobs, critique my resume and cover letters, and a lot more.

I m glad I visited. I had job security and career clarity immediately after graduating because of all of their help. Otherwise I would have been clueless.

PS, go as a Freshman. It s never too early to start exploring. It makes you competitive :-)
