In terms of online student loan repayment, Heartland ECSI is a nightmare.
Their service does not allow you to target specific loans in your loan package, which should be illegal. The previous carrier of Perkins loans allowed for individual loan repayment as does MyFedLoan. Heartland ECSI charges a $1 fee for making a one-time payment from a bank account, which is extortionary. Lastly, ECSI won't save and hash your bank account information, making it more difficult each time a student wants to make a one-time payment. I am not impressed with the way Heartland nudges consumers into bad loan repayment practices. More people should complain, especially college and university loan officers.
