A couple days ago, I took my girlfriend on our first getaway after a particularly stressful semester of college. While the hotel location is indeed convenient, I was not impressed with the hotel itself. I was too embarrassed to complain and take pictures of the transgressions in front of her, but I do feel the need to write out some complaints.
I ended paying a comparatively steep price for what felt like a motel room. I chose to have street view, which, from an angle, was really nice; however, I pity anybody who has the misfortune of also facing the adjacent parking garage. The lights emitting from the parking garage are tantamount to spotlights I probably could have worked on my tan if I pressed myself against the window. Fortunately, the room has very effective, light-blocking curtains, but it s unfortunate that I couldn t enjoy the view without being blinded.
The bathroom had an array of problems. There was noticeable mold in the shower, concerning white and brown stains on the wall across from the toilet, and the single bathrobe we were supplied with had stains on it, as well.
Furthermore, for anybody under the impression that parking is included: it s not. Utilizing the parking garage is an additional $26 fee. I wish this was made clear upon booking the room. The nickel and diming was made further apparent from how even the two water bottles in the fridge had $3 fees. The wifi apparently has a fee as well, which is ridiculous.
Upon paying my parking fee at checkout, I was instructed to scan my room key in the parking garage upon driving out to raise the gate. I was met with a message on the monitor that my room key had expired, with the gate remaining shut a final inconvenience. Luckily, we were able to contact an attendant. She was super sweet and very helpful I wish I made note of her name, but whoever the hotel has working in that area of the garage, she s wonderful.
I am just amazed by the quality compared to the cost for this hotel. I could have paid half the price elsewhere for an equal or better experience. Unless you re comfortable paying purely for the downtown location (and the admittedly comfortable bed), then I suggest you pursue other options.
