TIP: if you want to do something on the last day and fly again in the evening, you should visit the Getty Villa, where you can easily get there.

If you have not rented a car or taken a taxi, simply take the bus (1 trip: $ 1.75) that goes from Santa Monica towards Malibu. Directly opposite the bus stop is the entrance for the cars where you have to report and you will be picked up by a shuttle service that will drive you to the villa.

The villa itself is beautifully designed, as is the park. Because of the scarcity of water in California, you have to expect that the pools are empty and fountains are not running. The architecture is impressive. Inside, Greek and Roman artifacts are exhibited.

You can order the food in the restaurant, you will be given a number which you can place on the table and the food will be served. The whole thing has been made wheelchair accessible (there is a lift, among other things).

The bus stop (METRO 534) back to Santa Monica looks pretty deserted and ready for demolition. UPDATE (November 2017): stop has now been redone (with bench)

Important: Before registration / reservation / ticket online (free) on the Getty website, have it stamped by the bus driver (which I did not do). But everything went well.

ENGLISH:
When you're for 24 hours in Santa Monica so you should take a hotel. You Can spend the one evening at the Santa Monica Beach / Pier and next day - a good tip: you can use from Santa Monica the BUS (METRO 534 - to / from Malibu) to the GETTY VILLA. One way approx 20 min.

At the Entrance for the Cars you will get picked up with a shuttle and transported up to the Villa.
Except the bus ticket (its not expensive) there are no costs to enter the villa but reservation online has to be made.

Its a wonderful place (park and museum) to spend the last few hours in LA / Santa Monica area until your flight goes on the evening.
+ Wheelchairs are no problem. There are elevators (check the website).
+ Self-Service Restaurant (the warm meal will be served).

Conclusion: it was a good choice to hang from the morning till early afternoon there.
