This review may be long, but please take your time to read it all as it will stop more people from experiencing the heartache I went through and will enable businesses in Ghana to provide better services to customers.

I had the unfortunate opportunity of contracting DBS Ghana to roof my property in Accra. From the onset the roofer I got was not directly employed by DBS Roofing, but a contractor for them, which that I was not made aware of. The roofer started to lie to me about the choice of roofing sheet I wanted as a customer. He tried to sell to me a less quality product called the Msl Super which has a 5 year warranty although I wanted the Msl Colorlink Plus with a 20 year warranty. I also wanted a particular colour but he tried to convinced me that was not good because it fades after while.

After the initial difficulty, I decided to go to DBS office on Spintex Rd to engage them directly. Now this is where all my problems started. I paid the 75% deposit which was required before manufacturing starts and then pay the remaining 25% balance on completion and before delivery to site. A few days later I was called in the afternoon around 3pm to come and pay the balance before they close at 5pm otherwise my materials will not be delivered the next day. I told the lady on the line that I will not be able to get to them before the deadline given. I was passed to a Project Manager called Raymond, I pleaded with him that I was busy in town that afternoon and so I will rather be there the next morning before they open at 8pm to pay the balance, they were adamant that if i dont come that afternoon I will not get my goods delivered the next day. I had to stop everything and rush down there to make payment. The next morning I went to my site and waited the whole day, DBS failed to deliver the goods and did not bother to call me and let me know about it. I kept calling to find out what was happening and was given excuses after excuses. Eventually some of the goods was delivered at night the next day. The roofers started the work the following day. I went there to inspect the goods and was not impressed with the state of the roofing sheets, they had scratches and markings on most of them. I went back to office to complain about the state of the sheets delivered, the delays in receiving the goods and the unprofessionalism of the roofers, I was dealt with again by Raymond. The first thing he did was to tout business from me by telling me I can engage his services to do some of my building works, I found this also very unprofessional. The remaining goods were later delivered on 2 separate trips which obviously delayed the works. The roofers who they sent were very unprofessional, although I was complaining, they kept walking on the roofing sheets on the floor which left dents in them. Their supervisor too failed to attend site until the 3rd day, so I had to be there throughout to make sure the right things are done. After the completion of the work I also had problems with getting the completed works inspected, a guy called Nathaniel who turned up was rude because I questioned why he failed to keep our agreed time. The final thing that broke the camel's back was, although they came in to take their own measurement, they sold me more sheets than I needed, the remaining sheets is more than the 5% extra they claim is part of T&Cs. I requested they come and take away the excess sheets and refund my money. I got the customer services manager called James who promised to make sure this is done, however he never answered my numerous calls or text messages. Also my certificate took 2 months to be issued despite me chasing them for it.

My advice to any potential DBS Ghana customer is be aware of the poor quality of services provided. The local guides giving reviews are probably paid to do so.
