I am reviewing here to the general Aegis Living site because my interaction went beyond my actual experience at the Issaquah location in that I communicated via email to the top management at Aegis Living as well and so I feel it's fair to warn anyone considering Aegis at least know what happened to me. I had my mom at the Issaquah location for 3 years. Honestly there were things I liked about it- and things I didn't -but once someone who is approaching 90 years old is in place, you don't want to move them. And there is the problem. One of the challenges of being at Aegis is their fee basis. They have a system of care points and rates and rent points and rates with monthly invoicing that makes it somewhat difficult to really see what you are being charged and why. While in the beginning our monthly charges were quite stable, all of a sudden they quite unexpectedly and without an actual change in my mom's care needs these guys decided to just decided to up and double our monthly cost. At first, we were told there had been an accounting error and it was that we should have paid more the whole time! Further dialogue however produced a different story- basically we were told- he- it's like this- each room/bed here has to make so much money and if your mom isn't progressing along in her care needs to generate the fee increases we need, so sorry- the company has targets to hit and we will raise your fee as needed to get there- regardless of your mom's condition. I get it, and sure every business has to survive, the problem is it could well be at your expense. Now, this is only one facility and one mans experience but if you read your agreement and it's anything like mine was, you have no recourse no matter what anyone verbally tells you. So beware if you move here that this too could happen to you.
