The curators have significantly reorganized the collection to tell the history of the Roman/Mediterranean civilization and set it in context with its neighbors Persia, Egypt, Phoenicia, etc. Moving through galleries moves through time. Much improved. Looking forward to when the Villa adds their new movie presentation.

The featured exhibit is the Villa of the Papyri. Buried by the eruption that wiped out Pompeii and Herculaneum, it's the structure after which the Getty is patterned. The exhibit has artifacts found inside the Villa, including an ancient library.

We will return this fall 2019 to view the upcoming Assyrian exhibit.
