I went to see Dr. George Ricaurte, a world famous research neurologist. I should have done my research better instead of taking JH website at its word. He is more infamous than famous. He has been widely and publicly criticized for taking shortcuts in his research and coming to conclusions that are not supported by the medical evidence (google his name and read an article about him in the NYT). Well, it turns out his approach as a practitioner is the same. I came from out of state to see him, desperate for help. He put in less effort than any neurologist I had seen, all of whom received less than half the reimbursement he did (in addition to the facility fee).

And you guessed it: without evaluating nearly enough to come to ANY conclusion, including doing the simple due diligence of reading my medical records or taking a full history, he came to a conclusion not supported by medical evidence. Surprise!

JH should want nothing to do with this guy if they want to continue to advertise themselves as a destination where conditions are identified and treated that could not be treated elsewhere.

Otherwise, they should start advertising as a place where your treatment will be more costly yet less effective than elsewhere.

Pay more, get less, and waste your time here at Johns Hopkins! That s a catchy motto.

To reiterate: DO NOT SEE DR. GEORGE RICAURTE.

He shouldn t be licensed to practice medicine.
