My husband and I visited Carolina coach and marine...

My husband and I visited Carolina coach and marine to look at a fifth wheel toy hauler and to be quite honest have never had our intelligence insulted more wether buying a car , boat, or rv than it was yesterday at this dealership. After talking to a salesman on Saturday over the phone because we live 2 Hours away from the dealership ( and yes that was made perfectly clear to the salesman 3 times) and making sure they had the particular unit we were looking for in stock we made an appointment to come in Monday and take a look at 6:30 in the evening. I realize that's pretty late in the afternoon so my husband and I tried to get there early so if we decided to buy it wouldn't be so late for everyone involved so we actually arrived at 5:15.

We went in and met the salesman who was surprised to see us but we mentioned again that we had driven two hours to look at this camper and didn't want to keep them to late. I must say this salesman inthusiasm left a lot to be desired! I know that being at work all day takes a little out of you but customer service is your business and if your not excited about the product how are you going to get me to be. But never the less we are not rookies at this so we knew what we were looking for and if they had it and priced good we would buy it wether he knew what he was doing or not.

We went and looked at the unit and decided to sit down and talk numbers. Now this is where things really seemed to go down hill fast and I guess where this dealer prays on the uninformed. I did have a trade and wanted to see what they could do with it to work it into the deal. I did owe money on my trade and knew myself that they would not be able to give me the full amount for what I owed on the unit.... But because we were wanting a toy hauler was willing to take a loss and put some money down to compensate for the difference. My unit was a 2013 very nice travel trailer in almost perfect condition. We have taken very good care of it and like I said before I knew I was going to loose money in the deal but was willing to do this to get what we wanted. If you have ever seen their website they typically have a price with a line through it and then a price below or call for pricing. I will say a lot of dealers do that so that's not just them. It's how they try and pass that off as their way of trying to make you believe that they are giving you a huge discount! They had a price on this unit with a line through it for $55,000 but were going to sell it to me for $40,500. I guess I need to say that my camper was a 2013 keystone Sprinter 311bhs. Not a cheap unit but not real high end as well. I bought it new in 2013 for $29,500. When the salesman came back and set down to show us what the sales manager had came up with was mind blowing to say the least! The the salesman came back and said we don't have much meat on the bone because we have already discounted the unit $15,000 so we want bramble to do more than $14,800 on your camper. Now I don't claim to have ever been in this business but when he told me that I dang near fell in the floor laughing but realize I just drove two Hours to hear that crap! And this is where I will ask for a response from the owner. Exactly when did you ever have that unit listed for $55,000???? So you could say you discounted it $15,000?? I don't know what you paid for that unit but I'll bet it wasn't much over $35,000. I knew from the beginning my trade would not bring what the payoff was and they are selling for between 24,000 and 26,000 so I know I would have had to take less than that but over 10,000 less than owed. I'm willing to deal with anyone if you are willing to deal and for me to drive 2 hours and then they not even try to get me to bite and insult me on top of that! I know that a company is there to make money, but you are not going to screw this person in the process.

Just a piece of advice for anyone buying a camper for the first time.... Don't use these guys, they may be family owned but that doesn't mean anything if you only care about the dollar and not the customer!!
