Baohaus is a grungy, late night dive of a restaurant. Dark lighting, walls full of band stickers and graffiti give off an alternative, punk feel. A tourist might be intimidated, but being a New Yorker, All I asked when I got there was "Where's the Bao!?" Having never been there before, I went straight to what they are known for; the small Chinese steamed bread rolls, better known as Bao, with any variety of meat and toppings inside. I ordered the Chairman Bao and the Fire Birdhaus Bao. The first filled with braised pork belly, the second fried chicken. Both were smaller than I expected having paid $5 for each one, but I trusted that the Food Gods brought me to the right destination and after taking a bite I was definitely pleased! Savory shredded pork belly, crispy tender chicken, both Baos hit the spot! If you've never had one, Go try it!
