The Good: Conveniently located to the aquarium, Coca Cola, etc. Rooms were clean-ish (other than a layer of grime in the bathroom around the decorative edges of the counter top and mirror and some half-eaten gummy worms left under a table by a previous guest). Beds were pretty comfortable. Room was quiet inside (halls were a bit noisy) and we were able to use a small fan for white noise to drown out most of the traffic noise. Our room on the 9th floor had a fabulous view. Extra towels that I requested before arrival were provided on all but 2 nights of our stay.

The Bad: Despite joining the Select Guest program before arriving it was never mentioned upon checking in. No one provided me with the info for the complimentary free internet (which you have to pay extra for if you don t join as a select guest). I had to call down on our second night to get the info. Any perks of the select program were inconsistent (we got a paper on mornings 2-3 but not 4, son got a cookie and milk on nights 2-3 but not 4, turn down service was provided on nights 1-3 but not 4, etc). I was not provided the morning beverage service and when I asked if that was a perk of the facility no one seemed to have a direct answer. I had to call and ask for toilet paper more than once. I had to email the loyalty ambassador to ask where the microwave was and it ended up being way too far from our room to be convenient. Extra pillow I requested was never provided. There was an elevator and escalator out of service and though it wasn t a direct inconvenience for us (there are plenty of other elevators) they didn t seem to be in any hurry to fix anything broken. The pool was closed for emergency repairs which also meant no access to the hot tub. We only book hotels with pools because our son loves to swim and the hot tub meant we could soak our tired feet and backs (after long days of walking/sight seeing etc) so this was a HUGE disappointment to our entire family. We were offered the option to go to the Turner Althletic Club and use the lap-pool there then have the hotel comp our entrance fee ($15 per person/per day) when we checked out. We decided we didn t want to have to walk through the busy lobbies of both towers as well as the super busy CNN center in our swimwear and then walk back through wet. It just wasn t convenient/practical. There are no vending machines at all for snacks. You can get drinks ($2.50 for 20 oz bottle) near the ice machines.

The Ugly: $45 per day for valet is required and charged when you check in. This meant that $250 of our food/fun budget was tied up with valet services that we didn t want/need. We ended up walking everywhere to avoid the hassle of having the car brought around and additional costs of tipping the valet employees whenever we wanted to come and go. (The info about valet parking and the $50 a night incidental charges aren't mentioned online until after you ve completed your reservation and your cancellation date has passed.) The prices at the hotel restaurants are outrageous. We ended up rushing back to the hotel and eating our meals at the CNN Center s fast food joints (which close really early). Our room wasn t ready when we arrived (we did get there before check in) so we dropped our bags off and were told to go enjoy our day and they d be in our room when we returned. They weren t. I gave the front desk my claim ticket and was given the wrong luggage. Ours was missing so I was invited to go with an employee into the storage area to see if we could find our bags. They had been removed from the trolley and piled up in a corner. Unfortunately, my laptop bag was on the bottom of the pile and the case is now cracked. Thankfully, my camera which was also in the bag wasn t damaged.

All in all- yes it was convenient, clean enough and quiet enough , but otherwise I didn t find anything about the hotel, our stay, or their member program spectacular enough to say I d definitely stay there next time.
