Wonderful service, wonderful people, very communicative. They couldn't find the intermittent fault preventing the iMac starting. I think that it may have been a dodgy connection to the main board, of which there are many. However, I opted for the ultrasonic deep clean and replacement of the heat conducting paste behind the processors, very worthwhile because it was overheating (does yours get very hot at the top?). There are many cases where overheating has been disastrous (including hard drive failure), so I would highly recommend this. In my case I wasn't worried about the fault being a major failure because I take backups and keep that drive hidden in the shed where it won't be stolen should nefarious turdy miscreants burgle the computer.
