Don't think when you say what time you will arrive...

Don't think when you say what time you will arrive that your room will be ready at that time !!!!
The above is the one main vital takeaway which had a huge impact on me on an otherwise great trip. On booking here I was asked to say what time I would arrive. I said I would be there at 7am.
Now considering the fee was over 1000 nz dollars for 3 nights I had I felt a totally reasonable expectation that I would gain access to my room at that exact time.
I arrived there from New Zealand after a 12 hour flight at 7am to be told I could not access my room until 3pm. I said how I had made it clear I would be there at 7am but it was said that although you could say when you arrived it gave no guarantee. As far as I'm concerned this should have been made clear for a hotel charging this much per night.
What annoyed me thereafter was that I accidentally drifted to sleep in reception and was told to wake up (fair enough). I then saw someone asleep around the pool. I felt that surely if I relax around the pool in my shorts and t shirt that going to sleep would be fine. I was again told to wake up as someone next to me was as this was apparently 'a security issue'. I felt given the situation this should have been okay.
The room was a nice room and a nice bed. There was a little soap to shower with and a tiny shampoo and tiny conditioner.
The place seemed to have an ethos that rather than being anything special that you were paying for a privilege to be there.
The breakfast in the morning was nice but I couldn't help but wonder why on earth that wasn't included in the extortionate price. An extra 30 dollars each morning.
I'm a vegan person and there wasn't any non dairy milk out so you ask for it and its then given in a glass.
The bar had one vegan option where I had a couple of burgers. I feel the breakfast should have had some vegan protein sources, there were none.
Similarly I found it poor that outside the event I was at (virtual coach) taking place inside the hotel that the coffee outside did not offer any non dairy milk.
If I'd knew I could not get in my room when I arrived and the way the hotel was overall I would not have stayed there. There are plenty of guest houses nearby I couldve stayed in for a 3rd of the price or less and just come over to my event. Atleast I could have booked the night before and had a good nights sleep.
If you do want to go here at the very least don't assume your room will be ready when you arrive. It had a huge impact on my energy levels.
Seeing 1076 nz dollars come out of my account today purely for the 3 nights stay makes me wonder where on earth that went to. A nice room and a nice bed.
