Jessica Payne Review of Sheraton Raleigh Hotel
My friend and I checked in Saturday September 5, 2...
My friend and I checked in Saturday September 5, 2020 and checked out Monday September 7, 2020. We checked in later around 7:30pm. We were in a rush to get to our dinner reservations, so we literally dropped our luggage, changed clothes, and left. We returned a little before midnight. After relaxing, I decided to go shower (around 12:15-12:30am). I turned on the water so it could warm up before turning on the shower. I went to use the toilet and it was just gross. There was a ring around it and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages. I turned back to turn the shower on. Apparently the stopper had been up, so the water was filling in the tub. The water was yellow-brown and reminded me of Flint, MI. It was revolting and disgusting. I immediately called the front desk and they said they would call us right back. Thirty minutes go by and it's now almost 1am. I call them back and the person I spoke with was very rude and said they called the room and no one answered (our room phone never rang). Someone brought a key up and we moved from the 9th floor to the 10th floor. After unpacking, I realized I left my face wash in the old room. It's expensive, so I called back down to the desk. They said I would have to go all the way back down to the desk to get the key and get the wash myself. I finally get my face wash and get back to our new room. I go to shower and decided to check the water first - the exact same thing happened! At this point, it's 1:30am, I've traveled 6 hours in the car, and I'm exhausted.
The next morning I decide to make myself a cup of complimentary Starbucks coffee you provided in our room with bottled water. I'm SO GLAD I had enough sense to look inside the coffee reservoir before making coffee - it was filled with dust and OLD LEAVES (as in leaves from a tree outside)!!!
My friend and I never showered the entire time at your hotel. We had to sponge off with bottled water and also use bottled water to brush our teeth. The last day of our trip, we needed some more toilet paper and an extra towel. I called the desk and they said I would have to come down and get it since no one was "available".
I completely understand everything going on with COVID-19 right now. I understand staff is limited and things are not the same as before. I accept certain amenities will not be included due to sanitary issues. What I do not accept is that I paid over $100 a night for a "nice" hotel in a downtown area that I felt disgusted to stay in. The fact that your hotel finds dirty toilets, plumbing issues, and completely unsanitary appliances acceptable makes my head spin. I could have spent half the money, stayed at well known 2 star hotels and have none of those issues. I will never stay in a Sheraton/Marriott hotel again.
