My 13 year old daughter was admitted here voluntarily for depression. My wife and I thought this was supposed to be a helpful place. We could not have been more wrong!!!

This was more like some sort of sick real life horror story.

First we were told that we would have normal visiting hours. Never was it ever mentioned that we would NOT be able to see our daughter.

After we showed up for our first visit and turned away, and told it was only a phone call. We called in. The rude woman that answered the phone snapped out, that there were too many patients and that our names would be put on a waiting list. If there was time in the next session our daughter could call us back.

That was enough!!!

Time to get her out, or so we thought.

We were told that since this was a voluntary visit, we could take her out any time we wanted. Oh not so!

You see, a doctor has to ok the release. And if a doctor is away for the weekend, well shucks, guess this becomes a legal kidnapping.

Oh, and of course when the doctor finally does come back and finds it within their schedule to sign the paperwork, it is of course " against medical approval" so now insurance will not cover it.

Somehow, I just cannot understand how people who operate places like this can consider themselves healthcare professionals.

Money hungry fiends with no souls who feed on people who are looking for help in desperate places in life. Yes, I believe there is a special place in hell for those who operate Highlands Behavioral Center.
