We were in the Peds unit for my 2 yr old son, had a good experience overall, except for one Nurse Practitioner who admitted my son. She was in our room for 2 minutes at the most. Walked in the room with arrogance, completed her assessment in less than 2 minutes. our cardiac monitor was beeping and when we asked her what the alarm was about, she said - you can fix it back yourself, shrugged her shoulders with an attitude and walked away. Found out later it was oxygen sats probe that was taken off by my son accidentally. Never came back to check my son rest of her night shift. I guess patient's safety is her last priority. We were admitted so that my son could be tele monitored, not to sleep in the hospital unmonitored and let my insurance pay their huge hospital bill. I was shocked that somebody could be so unprofessional and lack empathy. I hope healthcare professionals learn to have some compassion and kindness before they work with sick children.
