I had this idea to start a podcast in August of 2014. I have been building websites since I was 12 years old on a classic HTML format. However things have changed since then. Wordpress based sites are now the new thing for ease of use and searchability. I have a MBA degree in marketing and even had a job in digital marketing. My digital marketing gig didn't do a lot along the lines of SEO, neither did my MBA program at the University of Minnesota. I decided I would rely on the fine folks of The Site Edge to help me out with selecting the appropriate podcast theme and to make sure we were targeting certain keywords to get a 1st page placement on Google. Sure enough, after working with Brian from The Site Edge we were able to obtain a great listing on Google...all without backlinks. Since then we have grown and we average several hundred downloads a week. Podcasts are the toughest things out there to get ahead in search...if you're a business or even a personal website and want to be visible online make sure you contact these guys and girls.
