We *almost* bought a certified used Civic from T&T...

We *almost* bought a certified used Civic from T&T Honda a few months ago but didn t at the end. Like other used car buyers who have done research before buying, we have some ideas of what prices are reasonable for cars of certain age and mileage. After we decided on a car we like, we went through some back and forth negotiations to try to get the asking price down to an amount we could accept. At the end, the sales manager s asking price and our offer came close but the discount wasn t enough so we left that Saturday night without buying.
T&T Honda would have received a 4 star review for this initial experience if the story had ended there but the story didn t end there and 3 stars were taken off for the subsequent bad experiences.
So later that Saturday night after some thinking, we decided to accept the manger s asking price and were ready to visit the dealership on Monday to buy the car given it was closed on Sunday.
To our surprise and dismay/disgust, we saw the price of the car jacked up by $400 that Sunday morning! Sure, a company is always free to charge whatever price it thinks it could get away with on any product but it definitely left a bad taste seeing the price jacked up like that. 1.5 stars were taken off.
Some weeks later, another potential Civic came up for sale at T&T but its CarProof report wasn t uploaded yet on the first day so I called and talked to a sales person who promised to get and email me the CarProof report in 5 minutes. He never emailed that CarProof report nor called back. Later I saw the CarProof report uploaded online listing a Fire Claim of $6,000+ plus two collision claims (over $1,000 each)!!! One wonders if that was the reason the CarProof report was never emailed? Shouldn t be too hard to keep a promise when one was made to a potential customer? Another 1.5 stars were taken off here, making this a 1 star review.
By the way, we ended up buying a Civic at a dealership outside of Calgary with much better experience. The nice, patient, dedicated and professional salesperson answered all our questions knowledgeably and emailed the full service history of the car as requested, etc etc so it was a pleasure buying our Honda from him at this outside of Calgary dealership!
