leann Review of Practical Recovery

This was the most incredible psychotherapy experience I have had in my life. I engaged in the individualized intensive outpatient program. Personally, group therapy is not my preference. I was impressed with all of the staff. This is unique because it offers individuals the opportunity to obtain concurrent substance abuse and psychological treatment in an individualized setting with primarily doctoral trained providers. I would like to particularly commend the following providers: Dr. Camlin, Dr. Horvath, Dr. Galant, and Linda Lewis.
For reference, I chose the intensive outpatient program as I came from out of state specifically to attend this clinic. There is significant flexibility given it is individualized. I spent approximately six to seven weeks in treatment at Practical Recovery. Per week, I would guess I spent fifteen to eighteen hours with Ph.D. level providers primarily. I did have a preferred provider and was able to book appointments longer than hour. This is highly unusual and allows for more in depth psychotherapy without a time limitation interrupting.
I am not certain as to the insurance coverage, as I paid cash. However, when compared to the cost of an inpatient treatment center (which has no regulatory oversight, rarely any doctoral-level providers, and is not empirically proven to have better outcomes) it was and is far cheaper from a cash pay perspective. Also, keep in mind, in medicine currently, most of the best care is cash pay. It eliminates the burdens imposed by insurance companies and also maintains a higher level of privacy.
If you are intelligent, educated, or psychotherapy treatment resistant, I would strongly suggest this clinic. This group is the beginning of a change that could have significant positive influences on the approach to substance abuse and concurrent psychological disorders.
