This property management company could not be more unethical. They make their money by scamming young people (they primarily rent to students) out of their security deposit. It is clear that they decide how much money they want to take from you and then make up charges until it gets to that amount. The security deposit is legally meant to be for any damages the tenants do to the apartment, not for routine maintenance, which the landlord is supposed to pay for. It is illegal for a landlord to take money for routine maintenance out of a security deposit. Despite this, this was our experience with Sunnyside. We will never rent from them again, and encourage you do to the same.
