I recently purchased a Groupon for an Open Water certification, and getting them to follow through on it has been pulling teeth 100% of the way. I've called several times and sent several emails. A man named Jeff (the owner?) is the only person who is capable processing these, and I have been told that he was "inundated with the Groupons" and can't keep up with the demand. The man who answers the phone to say that Jeff is at home gets extremely testy with people calling about Groupons. I'm sure they are glad for the extra business, but they won't return my calls and at this point I just want a refund. Awful business practices in effect. I'd rather just pay the extra money for people who care about my business.
