Nothing directly against the Hilton Sandestin, but...

Nothing directly against the Hilton Sandestin, but against Hilton: Before our stay, I called the local number for the hotel to book our stay. Once talking to the operator, I was transferred to someone who I found out later, did not even work at the Hilton Sandestin. I told him the dates we wanted to stay, he first brought up my Hilton Honors account, and said they had a double queen room at a great price. I immediately said that wasn t going to work, it was only my husband and I staying and we didn t want two queen beds. He insisted they could push the beds together and that they did that all the time. I was reluctant to doing it but it was over $50 cheaper per night. I also requested that we could have a higher up room to get a better view, he said that would be no problem since there were 21 floors. After giving him my information, he put me on hold for a few minutes, and came back on the line. He then said he spoke with a lady at the front desk and they would be able to push the beds together along with getting us a great room. We were excited!

When we arrived the bagman, brought us to our room, on the second floor might I add, beds were NOT together. I told him we were promised they would be put together. He
I know we definitely aren t called the front desk and the lady at the front desk stated they were not allowed to push the beds together and they have never done it in the past.

I was getting really frustrated at this point. We loaded our bags back up and headed back to the front desk. The bagman told us to wait at the chairs up front. About 15 min went by, the guy came back to us and said they didn t have a single king bed available??? I insisted I speak with a manager at this point.

Upon speaking to him, I was beyond frustrated but I felt polite, I told him what the guy promised me about the beds and the floor the room was on. He laughed and it almost seemed like he was laughing at me and I was making it up. He said they had a queen bed for that night and then they would move us to a king the night after that. If we are only staying 3 nights, I don t want to move over and over.

Finally, we got it resolved. Long story short, kinda, I don t know why they took away having people who know the resort and know how many floors they have and what they allow and don t allow to make the reservations. I think Hilton made it right, but it took a while to get there.
