I have never had such a deplorable experience with a car dealership in my life. After looking around for a used car, I found a seemingly reasonably priced Camry Solara listed online. When I went to check it out, I was assured that it was quality checked and ran perfectly. I admit I may have been too trusting, but if a dealership says that a car is quality checked on 114 points and driveable, I feel like it shouldn t be naive to believe their claims. Anyways, not even 15 miles after driving off the lot, the check engine light appears. Ok, I say to myself, not a big deal, I ll just bring it back and get it fixed. So I go back, and they refuse to fix it. They said it was sold as is. I complain to the manager, and they tell me to bring it back next week to get it fixed. It doesn t seem like the safest thing to drive this around, but I obliged. Now, as I m driving home, I start hearing crazy clunky noises coming from the back of the car. At this point, who knows what this even is. Here s the scary part though, a few days later, the brakes give out while I m on the freeway. WORST MOMENT OF MY LIFE. I call Toyota Sunnyvale, and they say it isn t their responsibility and that it was my fault for ruining the car. Really?! They said they would still check out the check engine light, but they can t make any promises that they would even repair this. Their repairmen also work 9-5 M-F, which just happens to be my business hours for my job. So now, even if they would look at it, I have to take time off of work just to get it looked at without any indication that they would even fix it after they diagnosed it. Long story short, my car got towed for being parked for too long because I couldn t safely drive it, I had to pay even more money to get it back, and the resale value was crappy because it was a crappy car. Even worse, I m salty now. If you want to buy a used car, don t trust Toyota Sunnyvale unless you know cars and can do the safety check yourself. Given the demographics of people who shop there, I d say that wouldn t be a huge percentage of us. Spend your hard-earned money elsewhere where they actually care about your safety.
