Took my first go at stand-up paddleboarding a few weeks ago. Taking off and then docking are the scariest parts as you have to switch from your knees to standing but I didn't get wet! The guys there are helpful at explaining how everything works but you really are kind of on your own! The current in this area is a bit strong so make sure ang approximate your time appropriately.
