We visited Hatfield House recently, albeit the house itself isn't actually open so we wondered the grounds and gardens.

On arrival there were plenty of people guiding you to parking spaces, and then its a short walk to the entrance. The cafe and other facilities are all located in the entrance area, so ensure you pop to loo before going in!

With two small children we decided to do the medium woodland walk, not completely pushchair friendly but wasn't exactly expecting it to be. Apart from the lake (which was awesome) I don't think there was anything particular special about the walk. We walked back towards the house (via an ice cream). The kids really enjoyed running round the gardens trying to get lost. Not all the gardens are open to view but the ones we saw were nice.

If you decide to go, then take a picnic with you and make a few hours out of your wonder - be prepared to pay the 'heritage venue' prices if you decide to eat / drink from cafe and / or ice cream van.
