The atmosphere at the theatre is very intimate and the staff were professional and nice. A beautiful venue conveniently located in the downtown area.
My first time coming to the Canadian Stage Company was underwhelming. I came to see Onegin (the musical) and had very high expectations; I was disappointed by everything but the actors.
Decorations were clashing with each other (the colourful paper lanterns do not fit well with the image of St. Petersburg), costumes needed more work (some of them looked out of the place, while others seemed to have been purchased from Zara last minute), the storyline was reduced to a love story. Overall, this performance did not do Onegin justice.
I hope to see something more exciting next time.
