Formerly known as the Product Development and Design Center of the Philippines or PDDCP; is mandated by the Republic Act No. 10557 otherwise known as the "Philippine Design Competitiveness Act of 2013" to promote design as a creative tool for improving the quality and competitiveness and branding of Filipino products in the global market; and as an innovative tool for enhancing the quality of human life.

The DCP invites design academe and students, and professionals to conduct their intensive design research here and consult there in-house Design Innovative Program (DIP) designers.
