I signed up for Epitech as part of a short training course, and I had a positive experience! I arrived at Epitech with a very limited mastery, I used to use computers and had started the C course on OpenClassroom, beyond which zero experience.
After my C pool, I could see that my level had skyrocketed. By comparing my learning on the OpenClassroom course and the swimming pool of C, I noticed that I had learned a lot more and progressed in 2/3 days of exercises than by reading the theoretical lessons and doing the proposed exercises. of the online course over several weeks. What's more, defeating the exercises one by one is extremely satisfying. It's certainly frustrating when you're stuck, but it's all the more satisfying when you find the solution and you understand what was not working!
At the beginning of the training I used to ask for help from the educational manager or the AERs. The only problem I encountered was that I was not always sure who was an AER. Some (e) s introduced (e) s but not all, suddenly I did not know if I could ask them questions when the educational manager was busy. Now it seems obvious to me and I know it is enough to ask them the question, but the first days I did not know what to expect and was a little nervous about the idea of maybe disturbing someone who was not an AER.
On another note, I am glad that we were pushed to use Ubuntu, I had always wanted to use it but had never started.
