UPDATE Feb. 2020:

No matter what is in the lower, original text: In my eyes, the KSA received one star more than I gave at the beginning! But why ?! Well, on February 7th I had to as an emergency to the KSA. On a Friday afternoon - over 20 patients were already there. So I prepared for a very long stay, despite the referral from the family doctor. And unfriendly staff. But that was not the case! Both the team in the emergency room and the team in the required specialty (urology) were not just nice but also took a little time - and the waiting time was not that bad - I have experienced worse! I can say that KSA is trying and the direction it is taking seems to be right. Hence one more star ...

You can't actually rate hospitals fairly! And as a rule, there are always things in these huge "health forges" that do not run so smoothly.

The KSA, as the Aarau Cantonal Hospital is colloquially called, is not bad in itself. The nursing staff is super nice (at least 99% - there are black sheep always and everywhere), the physiotherapy based there is really exemplary and never gave me any reason to complain. The food is acceptable for a hospital - you just notice that it is a hospital and not a private clinic.

But what is really NOT possible are the sometimes extremely arrogant doctors! So far, I have had particularly poor experiences with the assistant doctors in orthopedic surgery. If you have to wait an hour for the gentlemen at a debriefing, everything is fine, but woe you come to a checkup 5 minutes late because the train has got stuck again; then Holland is in need! So there are specializations, the KSA as well as the staff (yes, even the doctors) are highly recommended. But orthopedic surgery is really a mess. It was about 12 years ago, then about 7 years ago, so I've been avoiding this department, but you don't hear much good either.

Personal experience also shows that the emergency room is totally overloaded. These are long waiting times for uncomfortable loungers, unfortunately, often on the day (or rather night) order.

In conclusion, I can and must say: Institutions like the KSA are important, but there are, despite some good points, extreme potential for improvements. Throw out all the arrogant doctors and get those who still have "fun" in their profession and are interested in their patients!
