You will die in the TMH ER if you are very ill. I waited 5 hours with a fever of 103 before leaving. [I am told the secret to being seen is to keel over or vomit, if possible (I witnessed the former, and the patient was indeed wheeled off, perhaps to be placed in a behind-the-scenes waiting room.)]

Thank God, I awoke the next morning and went to my MD at that time (who proceeded to misdiagnose me with Bird Flu for a full week, but that's another horror story.) I have also gone to the TMH Urgent Care and had a mixed experience there. One of the doctors was excellent; one of the people at the intake desk was harsh and uninformed.

I have had surgery at TMH, but will never do so again. When I left I had a thought to market T-shirt: "I SURVIVED TMH". Yes, it's that bad.

Overall, I would recommend going to the other hospital in town. I have only experienced their ER section, but it was professional and outstanding in every respect. We are fortunate to have the option of another hospital.
