Along with the historic importance as the monument commemorating the westward expansion of the United States, the gateway arch is also an engineering marvel. This structure - the largest of its kind - arch, is a thoroughly enjoyable place. There are three main activities which you can do around the arch.
1. Tram tour to the top of the arch - You wouldn t forget the view of the old court house and the entire St. Louis from 640 ft above the ground. The claustrophobic ones may stay away from the tiny capsule like trams which takes you to the top.
2. Mississippi Cruise - This guided cruise in Mississippi takes you along the shore and explains the history while letting you capture memorable snaps of SL.
3. The helicopter tour - I personally haven t tried this, but I am sure that the view of the giant arch from air would be an unforgettable experience.
