In 1809, Alexander 1, at the first Sejm of Finland (a class meeting of the peoples of Finland), proclaimed the creation of the Grand Duchy of Finland as part of the Russian Empire and alienation from Swedish lands.
A must visit in Porvo.
Free admission. The Cathedral is operational.
