Terminated Position during orientation week(first day of hire) very poor communication with lab manager/supervisors.
I was assigned to apply for a position by lab supervisor Brad Pruden to apply for the per diem phlebotomist to serve in Lancaster California at two of the nursing homes as he stated he needed. My new position was Monday-Thursday 8:30am-2pm and salary was scheduled with Brad,I kept in touch with brad through the whole process. The state was having issues mailing my phlebotomy license. Brad was well aware on this and he stated I should be fine as long as it shows on the state system that I m active and to proceed with the hire process, filling me in that HR might be strict as they need to see it in person. So I did. During my health clearance I received a email from Brad asking how everything is going, any updates? we touched base right then. My first hire orientation on June 3rd had to be rescheduled Per Hannah Fisher in Human Resource she stated that they needed to see the license in person, given date options of June 17, or July 8th.I had to reschedule my orientation choosing July 8th. I have been emailing Brad keeping him inform of everything. Before proceeding any further, the weekend before my first orientation I called Brad Pruden to make sure I was still guaranteed my position. His response via email was I thought you had lost interest in the position How bizarre!! When we were both touching base during health clearance!! I went through this whole hire process and he was very aware. Then he states that he will send over my first week schedule to supervisors Katie and Claudia. After that,Brad Continued not to touched base with me or answer any of my email questions, to contact them instead.
Orientation day(first day hire)July 8th, 2019 8am-3pm, I completed my first day, going on waiting for my last day to complete orientation which was Friday. Katie calls me her first response was that I should have been in training, huh? I was confused after telling her I m in the process of orientation for the per diem phlebotomist position in Lancaster area. She seemed confused and lost herself. She stated I had to contact Claudia regarding location. But to send her an email the night of, with my schedule of availability and hours of choice for training either 3am or 5:30am. So I did. Again not feeling right about this whole process after all the trouble, this didn t feel right. I asked Katie for Claudia s contact info, the next morning Katie replied.I called Claudia and she wasn t clear that I was the per diem phlebotomist for Lancaster ca, stating two people had already taken the position. I explained to her the whole route with brad Pruden from the beginning. Although, she also seemed confused and lost, trying to convince me to work in Orange County locations because that s what they need and the pay is great and of course because their UCI She stated she would contact brad or try to convince the new employees of Lancaster ca if they would want to switch out and will get back to me.Again,I didn t apply for this in the beginning!! I knew then this wasn t good. Not sure what really happened in the mist of this all, here we go again no one contacted me to touch base, it was the day before my last day of orientation I had decided to email Katie once again asking and confirming if I will be needed for training, she replies in a quick email stating my position has been terminated because they couldn t meet my strict availability?!? This was the worst by far I ve ever experienced a hiring process and I will not look back or forward to work with UCI in my life!!! Nor do I recommend this place to anyone.
I deserve an explanation, and I am still figuring out the pieces to this awful mishap UCI has put me and my family through!!
