Lovely staff - delightful dining with superb local cultural dishes! One of Vienna's landmarks.
I agree with some of the previous comments, but as someone who has stayed in a vast number of Vienna's deluxe hotels I always find I come back to the Vienna Intercontinental. I'm welcomed 'home' each time I come back. For anyone who travels extensively and appreciates true value for money - the IC Vienna consistently wins hands down! I've stayed multiple times at the Ritz Carlton, Imperial, Renaissance at The Spanish Riding School, The Sacher, and even the Radisson - yet I never have the warm feeling of being 'home' as I do at the IC.
As for convenience - the IC is directly across from Stadtpark station, and rooms either overlook the park or Vienna's famous ice-skating rink. I compare it with staying at The Plaza on Fifth Avenue in NYC, overlooking the skating rink in Central Park.
If you enjoy the patina of a long-loved hotel, where service and sincerity excels over modernity and the thin vaneer of 'newness' then you'll love the IC Vienna!
Finally, if you have lots if bags and don't want to schlep them onto the CAT, consider having the hotel collect you on arrival at the airport or Banhof - it's great value and a refreshing start to your arrival in beautiful Wein! Enjoy! Fr B+
