Returning to Miami after two years brought a lot of high hopes, but with a new company taking over things didn't seem to go as smoothly as expected. Shuttles for hotels were a jumbled mess and many of my friends, including myself, had to play musical chairs to find a hotel that did have shuttle. Supercon's own website contradicted their own shuttle service leaving many confused to how they were going to get to the con. It was frustrating to say the least. Another gripe was the disorganization of panels. We had panels that never started and events entirely canceled by the con itself with no warning or notice, some were the whole reason some of us came. The lack of 18+ panels compared to last year leaves a bitter taste in our mouth and left Saturday feeling a lot less spectacular then last year. The sudden canceling of the burlesque show was the lowest blow as it was something my group looked forward to, male and female alike.
The only plus I can give was the amount of legal merchandise was larger this year leading to many more proper or 'real' items being sold which brings better credibility to the con itself. I cannot say if Super has cracked down on bootleg items or it was a lucky year, but none the less it was nice to see an even number of real and bootleg products instead of being overrun with bootlegs.
