Every ski area has its own flavour.Though terrain and snow options are not as varied as the main ski areas in the Banff area Nakiska has its own unique feel. As a main race training centre in the region the number of high performance skiers on the slopes at any one time is striking. This focus from the area provides for an unparalleled number of safety fenced runs available to ski fast on with after the teams are done. Though something that the general public may even be aware of this is a hidden bonus for anyone who really wants to rip. Snowmaking is excellent. The only downside can be when the mixture of speed demons and slowpokes creates an unpredictable mix of pathways on the slopes. My suggestion is to skip weekends when the crowds are greatest and try a taste of this Olympic legacy midweek.
