If you're looking to taste some of the freshest se...

If you're looking to taste some of the freshest seafood in the Midwest prepared by a Michelin Star award winning chef, come to GT Fish & Oyster located in trendy River North! Giuseppe Tentori is the culinary genius behind this eatery. I've been here enough times to know that you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

The ambiance of GT is really great - not too loud, but not so silent that you think you're in a library. The streamlined interior is chic/classy and incorporates the nautical theme along with glass walls, white panels and dark wood which makes the space pop while feeling spacious all at the same time. It gets crowded so book reservations through OpenTable. Walk-ins are cool too - if you can't get a table sit at the cool boomerang table they have or at the bar. Now the food - menu changes seasonally, but here's what's good:

OYSTERS (duh)
Freshest and cleanest I've had - not a bit of dirt or grit on these delicious bivalve mollusks! Selection always changes, but my favorite are the Kumamotos - so creamy and sweet. Dabob Bays and Forbiddens are good too - served with ponzu mignonette & house made cocktail sauce & their famous hot sauce duo.
Tip: oysters are 1/2 off after 10 pm chyeahhh.

PORK BELLY SLIDERS
Pork belly is salty and fatty (...in a good way) complemented by tangy kimchi and peanuts for texture. At $4 a pop, they're worth every penny - treat yoself!

CLAM CHOWDER
Not your typical thick stick-a-spoon-in-and-it-stands-up-chowder. A much lighter version that is just as delicious and dare I say I *whispers* prefer this over the traditional one. I know! Don't kill me! It's loaded with chunks of clam meat and there's a smokiness from neuske's bacon served with house made oyster crackers. Guh get it.

GREEN TEA SOBA NOODLES
This dish is served cold with shrimp, tofu, bok choy, and a thai chili vinaigrette. It's such a refreshing dish if you're looking for something light and easy on your waistline.

WHITEFISH SANDWICH
The portion for this dish is quite generous not that I'm complaining. It's a beer battered flaky whitefish sandwiched between a toasted tuscan roll with cajun remoulade, pickled veggies and salt and vinegar chips.

LOBSTER ROLL

BANANA CHOCOLATE GANACHE
Not only is the seafood delicious here, but the desserts are just as good. This comes with chunks of flourless chocolate cake covered in rich chocolate ganache accompanied by berry sauce, berries and mint. The presentation of beautiful and the dish was (almost) too pretty to eat.

BLOOD ORANGE LEMON TART
If you end up getting the lobster roll, which I recommend, you might want to end with something lighter than chocolate ganache. Enter the blood orange and lemon tart. It's tangy from the citrus, refreshing and is served with a lovely quenelle of blood orange sorbet to cleanse your palate. Perfect ending!

I can't say enough good things about this place. Like the food, the service was on point! Water glasses were always filled and plates were cleared in a timely fashion. Every server I've had has been friendly and knowledgeable about the menu offering suggestions and answer questions. Parking in the area is tricky, but it's possible so make sure you try out GT Fish & Oyster soon!
