Beautiful setting, a very nice walk in. A few staircases, but nothing to long or steep. The young monkeys are very cute, and overall there were more monkeys than we expected. Almost got discouraged to go after seeing the lonely planet entry, but glad we ignored it and went. Access is easy from Nagano, get the snow monkey pass, and take the snow monkey express and a bus, then it's a half hour to 45 min walk in.
