I was on the Taste of Newport Beach food tour recently, and this place was one of the stops. The group had a sample of the ahi "nachos", which were really just wantons covered in ahi tuna and avocado. Well, it was so good that some of us decided to go there for a late lunch a few hours after the tour. We went during happy hour (which, incidentally, goes from 11am - 6pm *every day*), which is a great time to go because not only is the restaurant not overly-crowded yet, but everything on the Happy Hour menu was $4.
So, we got around to trying the following from their HH menu: salmon cake, foot of onion rings, chicken lettuce wraps, clam chowder, black mussels, and of course, the ahi "nachos".
The clam chowder, onion rings, mussels, and ahi nachos were all winners. These apetizers were all delicious, and I wouldn't hesitate to order any of them (again) if I am every back at Harborside. A note about the onion rings: it is literally a foot of ring! They coming steaming hot on a skewer tower!
The salmon cakes and lettuce wraps, in contrast, did not impress. Despite this, we didn't leave feeling too bad, since $4 is a damn good price for decent sized appetizers in a restaurant with a water view.
