O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat (Mountain View Room)...

O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat (Mountain View Room)
Cons:
Found nails and screws lying around in the designated parking - this is simply unacceptable! Received an apology from the manager and a maintenance staff came out later with a broom to clean. No further communications from management afterwards to check if everything was alright. No assurance that if any of our tyres were punctured that they would fix at their cost, just a simple "let's will deal with it when that happens". Not good enough.
No light in the designated parking garages (they've taken the bulbs out and taped the switches down).
No table and chairs for balcony, only a two-seater bench.
Only one indoor chair in a sleep-four room.
Indoor table not flat.
Hair dryer old and sticky, plug is loose at the powerpoint - unsafe!
Bathroom door does not have enough clearance to go over the bathmat. So when you open the door the bathmat gets pushed in.
No heater in the bathroom.
Shower head is fixed, no hose, difficult to shower a child.
Power points are not well-placed around the room.
Serendipity brand handwash squirts out too little at a time, and does not lather well. Same with body wash and shampoo.
Photo in the ad shows a jacuzzi but that is of the paid entry Lost World Spa, not your room.
No bathtub.
No built-in light for mini "kitchen" in the wardrobe, so you will be making a cup of tea in your own shadow.
No built-in light for wardrobe.
No bathrobes provided (in any of the rooms according to staff).
Trees restrict view from room balcony down the valley.
Plastic kettle could do with an update.
Blanket on trundle bed had stains.
Carpet needs a good vacuuming - dusty.
Entry door difficult to close shut - pulling hard causes a loud bang which could potentially wake your neighbours up (Room 35 - check it out).
Entry door too easy for a child to open from the inside, not childproof!!
No microwave available to guests (pretty much forced to eat at the restaurants there).
Buffet breakfast overpriced ($35 full with hot food, $22 for Continental no hot food).
Restaurant food overpriced, starts from $40 upwards (get food from upstairs bar instead).
Outdoor mini pools dirty, not maintained(weather is cold but shouldn't they still be kept clean?)
Not everyone drinks alcohol, so a welcome coffee instead of wine/beer as alternative would be good.
Staff are just friendly enough but won't go out of the way for you.
Some front desk staff won't even make eye-contact let alone greet you.
Mini mart is expensive.
Gift shop merchandise - very expensive (e.g. $120 for O'Reilly's logo doormat).
Two coffee machines for complimentary morning/Arvo tea but only one available to use, long waits.
Pros:
Good view from balcony but restricted by some trees
Undercover parking right beneath room, handy (but be wary of loose nails and screws)
Ample bedding
Good hot water for shower
Ample towels
Quiet and peaceful
Great hearing the birds singing in the morning.
Icecream and coffee at the shop was good.
Oil heater works well in the room (but no heater in the bathroom)
Plantation doors/blinds block out enough light for a good sleep-in.
Complimentary morning/afternoon tea provided for in-house guests (but food is very limited, not enough for everyone and forget about going for seconds).
Lactose-free milk(and soy) and decaf coffee available as options for morning and afternoon tea.
Bar food is pretty decent for price.
Excellent bartender - friendly and patient.
This place makes me feel as a customer that they are only interested in money making, the customer gets minimal benefits and sub-par service. Would have to think twice before staying here again.
