Coldwater Canyon served as course #3 during our Dells golf trip. At $35 on a Friday afternoon, I thought this would be good spot to cap off the day. Upon pulling up to the clubhouse, I was excited as the facilities looked new and we passed a few holes on the back 9, which ended up being the only good thing about Coldwater.

Hole #1 was the saddest par 5 I have ever played at 460 yards and a 50-yard bunker taking up the entire fairway about 220 yards out. Hole #2 wasn't much better with a downhill blind shot par 3 to a small green. Both holes were on top of each other and this pattern repeated itself throughout the front 9. Tall trees, narrow fairways, small greens, and lack of space made for a boring first 9 holes.

The links-style back 9 saved what little interest I still had left and I would give holes #10-18 a solid 3.5 stars. Unfortunately, the cart girl had run out of almost everything by 4pm so that put a damper on things.

After my experience at Coldwater, I would recommend to any out-of-towners that they skip this course and instead pay the extra $'s to play Christmas Mountain, Wild Rock, and/or Trapper's Turn. You'll pay a little more, but you will also get SO MUCH MORE for your dollar.
