Ro Garg Review of Trident Jaipur

Booked the place through booking.com an hour before I checked in to celebrate my anniversary. I went by the first few reviews because I had never stayed at the Trident. However I have stayed at most of the other 5, and 7 star properties throughout India so I do know what I am saying will resonate for many people who travel in luxury.
The property is pretty, it's what attracted me. The staff are courteous and very nice. The property is pretty, neat, clean, and green. Covid protocols are maintained well. The rooms although small, are clean and feel good, esp if you want to stay for short term stays. The view facing the lake is pretty.
What I did not like, and actually felt like being taken for a fool was the food menu prices. They are like crazy! So we ended up paying an extra 1.4 times the room rate for a single night. Plus we had to pay for breakfast additionally. We did go thinking that breakfast would be included. I mean which five star does not have that? And if they don't, they should have informed us right in the beginning.
Ill expound what I mean by the food menu prices.. Like a dish of Red Thai curry vegetarian costs almost Rs 1000 minus the sticky rice. So they don't serve rice with it. They don't even have it. You will have to pay another 500 or so for plain white rice. It does not even feel like the Oberoi or the Taj so the rates seem way overpriced. Coz it's what you order plus plus taxes.
Like I said, the staff was great. The food rates made me feel cheated. That's a first for a hotel stay for me. Never happened to me before.
I wrote this review so that people going there for the first time would be aware that Inroom dining is pretty steep. It's basic math, if you spend 10 k for a nights stay, expect your bill to be double. We did not have alcohol nor anything superfancy. So you see that's the tragedy
